Year 7 and 8 Regional Athletics

We had 30 students competing in the Regional Year 7 and 8 Athletics Day at Porritt Stadium on Wednesday, 28th November.

There were 42 schools from the Waikato at the event. We had some fantastic results and look forward to the rest of the athletics season.

Highlights:

- Year 7 Chanel Lowther finished 1st in the 200m final, 2nd in the 100m final, and 2nd in high jump.

- Year 7 Aydasin Abbott-Joe finished 3rd in shot put.

- Year James McGuire placed 3rd in the 800m.

- Year 8 Georgie-Rose Boyd finished 3rd in the 100m final.

- Year 8 Arabella Barrio Frojan placed 1st in the 800m.

- Flynn Underwood, Keana Woodfield and Georgie-Rose Boyd also made sprint finals.

Our relay teams also had outstanding podium finishes:

- Year 7 Girls, 2nd in the 4 x 100m: Chanel Lowther, Melissa Kenel, Keana Woodfield, Aydasin Abbot-Joe.

- Year 7 Boys: 3rd in the 4 x 100m: Flynn Underwood, Murdoch Dawe, James McGuire, Baxter Smith.

- Year 8 Girls: 1st in the 4 x 100m: Anna McLean, Arabella Barrio Frojan, Maria Serafeimidou, Georgie-Rose Boyd.

A big thank you goes to our coaches Angela Russek, Sonia Waddell and Jess Patrick and our Year 10 athletics camp students for their help during the day. We had fantastic support from all of the wonderful parents who came to watch.
