St Peter's wins against Southwell in cricket

St Peter's Prep First XI won against Southwell School 1st XI with a 93 run victory.

On Saturday 2nd December, the St Peter’s Prep 1st XI travelled to play the Southwell School 1st XI.

Captain Riley McCullum won the toss and elected to bat in the warm, humid conditions. McCullum then combined with Benji Bell to score 194 runs for the first wicket. Bell recorded his second fifty of the Term, before he was dismissed for 58.

Nathan Feyter, 21 not out from 15 balls, then combined with McCullum to add a quick fire 33 run partnership in the final three overs of the innings.

McCullum batted throughout the inning to finish undefeated on 111 not out from 97 balls. His innings included 12 fours and 2 sixes. St Peter’s innings closed with a formidable score of 227-1 from their allotted 35 overs.

In reply Southwell started with positive intent before losing 3 wickets with the score in the twenties and eventually were reduced to 80-9 off 22 overs.

The last pair then combined to take the score through to 134 all out. Rua O’Reilly led the bowling with 4-16 off 6 overs, with Lachy Dawe, Cameron O’Leary, Aranjay Nanjappa and McCullum all picking up 1 wicket each.

In the end, St Peter’s Prep 1st XI continued their positive run of recent results with a 93 run victory.
