The St Peter's 1st XV have defeated Te Awamutu College in the first National Co-Ed Competition qualifier.
St Peter’s vs Te Aute College
On Saturday the St Peter’s 1st XV played Te Aute College for the first time in the school's history. St Peter’s were keen to put a good performance together after the term break.
The team showed patience with ball in hand and dominated early possession.
Kaea Hongara controlled the backline well and Peni Finau was dynamic with the ball.
By half-time the team had scored five tries and secured a bonus point.
St Peter’s kept the intensity up in the second half and added another eight tries to win.
Final score: 77-5.
St Peter’s vs Te Awamutu College
On Tuesday the team faced Te Awamutu College.
St Peter’s started well, showing great structure. Strong, direct running and support play enabled the team to build early pressure.
St Peter’s dominated possession and territory and managed to score four first-half tries. The half-time score was 24-6.
St Peter’s kept up the intensity in the second half and managed six more tries.
Te Awamutu tackled well, but struggled to contain the St Peter’s ball carriers.
Final Score: 64-6.
This advances St Peter’s to the next round of qualification.
