The Football Academy at St Peter’s, Cambridge is one of our four Junior Sports Academies. It is designed for Years 7–10 students and operates as part of their Physical Education curriculum. The Junior Sports Academies will deliver the same outcomes as the Physical Education curriculum but through the context of their chosen sport.
The Junior Sports Academies provide students with a unique opportunity to develop both physical and mental sport-specific skills under the tuition of experienced coaches.
Students receive expert guidance in each academy on individual core skills, game understanding and an introduction to Strength and Conditioning which is underpinned by the New Zealand Curriculum.
The Junior Sports Academies are designed to ensure all students reach their full potential in their chosen sport.
Directed by former All Whites Coach Ricki Herbert, our Football Academy provides a high-quality, holistic programme designed to progressively develop our players’ technical and tactical abilities. Our experienced coaches use skills-based training methods and work with players on fundamental movement skills. They also provide expertise on strength and conditioning, nutrition, sport psychology, goal-setting, time management, and leadership.
Our Football Academy provides clear pathways for students to progress towards regional representative teams and New Zealand international teams.
